How to be a Faultless Airbnb Guest When Traveling

Our travel plans have all been interrupted recently, but hopefully, we can get back to normal before long. When you do start traveling again, you should aim to be the best possible guest you can be, especially when staying in Airbnb rentals. If anything, in the post-COVID world, being conscientious of our responsibilities to those around us is only going to be greater than ever. Here are some tips on what you can do to become a faultless Airbnb guest when traveling.

Communicate with the Host

First of all, you should do the basic things right. When you’re traveling, you’re busy doing lots of other things and hopefully having a good time. But you should make time to communicate with your host effectively and let them know when you’re going to arrive, what you need and any other information that the host needs from you ahead of and during your stay.

Know the Rules Ahead of Time

It’s also a good idea to read up on the rules that your host has set for you. These rules are often ignored and overlooked but that shouldn’t be the case. You’ll be a whole lot less likely to run into problems with your host if you know what the rules are and how to follow them. They’re always posted on the Airbnb page of the rental property. And if there are any questions, simply ask the host directly/

Keep the Noise Down and Think of the Neighbors

One of the golden rules every guest should live by when renting a property on Airbnb is don’t make a lot of noise. It’s important to not only think of other people who might be in the property but also the neighbors who have no say in who stays next door. A lot of hosts now use noise monitoring for Airbnb so that’s something to keep in mind.

Don’t Treat it Like a Hotel

It’s never a good idea to treat your Airbnb rental like a hotel because that’s not what it is. More often than not, Airbnb rentals are also people’s homes. That’s especially true when you’re renting a room in a person’s home while they also live there. Treat it like you would if you were a guest in someone’s home rather than someone staying in a hotel.

Treat Common Areas with Extra Care and Respect

It’s especially important to treat the home’s common areas with extra care and respect because these are the places that everyone is going to be using before, during, and after your time staying there. Don’t make a mess or leave things lying around without tidying up before you leave.

When you’re traveling, you want to find shelter in the cheapest way possible, and Airbnb remains a cheap option in many destinations. Just make sure you don’t take your host or their home for granted when you’re traveling. The tips above are ones that all Airbnb guests should follow.
